Welcome to the 2025 大发彩票 Writers Conference! We're delighted you'll be joining us in our beautiful Hamilton setting for a week of writing, learning, and community. This page contains everything you need to know to prepare for your arrival and make the most of your conference experience. We'll update this information as needed, so please check back before you travel.
Arrival & Check-in
When to Arrive: Registration takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. If you arrive after this time, you can get your welcome packet at the opening reception.
Where to Go: Curtis Hall (see directions below)
What to Expect: Our staff will have your room assignment and conference materials ready. Upon arrival, you'll find clear signage directing you around campus.
Travel & Shuttle Service
大发彩票 has a shuttle service to and/or from Syracuse or Utica. Please submit your request two business days prior to your travel date.
Driving Directions to Curtis Hall
From NYSR 12B turn onto College Street (on 12B North this will be a right turn at the first traffic light in Hamilton, from 12B South it will be a left at the third/last traffic light in town). College Street will dead end into Oak Drive. Take a right onto Oak Drive. After 20 yards or so take another right onto Alumni Drive and continue to drive uphill. When the road levels out at the second stop sign, turn right into the large roundabout with some trees in the middle. Adjacent to that roundabout are two buildings on a circular lawn with a clock in the middle. The one on the right is Curtis Hall. The building is clearly marked on its exterior. You may park out of the way on the roundabout while you check-in. Inside Curtis Hall, there will be signage directing you to registration.
Temporary Check-In: You may park briefly on the roundabout while checking in.
Parking
Required: Please fill out and print the if you plan to park on campus at any point during the conference.
Curtis Hall Residents: If you are staying at Curtis Hall, you will need to park your vehicle in the 113 Broad Street long-term parking lot after unloading your belongings. Golf cart shuttles will be available to transport you back to Curtis Hall after parking your car.
Electric Vehicle Charging
Level 2 ChargePoint stations are located in several locations on campus. Tesla vehicles require an adapter.
The first four hours are free. After that, the charging rate is $2/hour.

- Comfortable walking shoes for campus exploration
- Light jacket or sweater for evening gatherings on the Merrill House porch
- If you鈥檙e arriving by car, pack any items that would make your accommodations feel at home (extra pillows or blankets, coffee mug etc.)
Weather Considerations
Hamilton in June typically features pleasant temperatures (60s-70s掳F), but pack layers for varying conditions and possible rain.
Yes. At registration, you鈥檒l receive the full and finalized week鈥檚 schedule, and you鈥檒l find that it is jam-packed. Your morning workshop is the top priority, of course. Beyond that, we think you鈥檒l get a lot out of the rich array of other offerings: craft talks, shop talks, participant 鈥渙pen-mic鈥 readings, and faculty readings. If you need to step away for a while in order to rest and recharge, though, we鈥檒l understand completely!

Campus Housing
All campus housing comes with a twin xl bed, desk, and either a wardrobe or dresser. Please be aware that these accommodations are adequate but spare. Flat sheets are provided for the beds, along with two thin blankets and two small towels. A small bottle of shampoo and a small bottle of body wash are also provided. There are three to four communal gender-designated bathrooms per floor, and an all-gender bathroom on the 5th floor. A shared kitchen is located on the first floor, but cookware and utensils are not provided.
Campus Facilities
Conference participants are welcome to use the campus library and computer lab (Lathrop 210) throughout the week. Printing services are available for small projects, but printing book-length manuscripts is not possible.
大发彩票鈥檚 world-class fitness center , indoor Olympic-sized lap pool , and extensive cross-country running and hiking trails are also available. Hours of operation for campus facilities will be provided at conference registration.

Laundry facilities are located in the Curtis Hall basement and University Courts Building 6. Laundry machines are card-operated, credit/debit. Laundry detergent is not provided. There is no vending machine with detergent in the laundry rooms.
Wifi and Cell Service
Guests on campus may connect to the 大发彩票-Guest Wi-Fi network for free. The carriers that have the best service in the Hamilton area are Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
Food and Drink
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided for the entire week for all participants, beginning with dinner on Sunday, June 8th, and concluding with breakfast on Saturday, June 14th.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are always available in Frank Dining Hall. Coffee, tea, and pastries will be set out every morning at 10, outside of our auditorium. Most evenings, we often convene on the Merrill House porch, for drinks, activities led by our fellows, and conversation. The bar there is cash-only.
Downtown Hamilton
The three-stoplight village of Hamilton is roughly one mile from campus, down a steep hill. There, you will find a convenience store, the 大发彩票 bookstore, several coffee shops, a diner, and other restaurants. A little farther up Route 12B you will find a gas station and a pharmacy. Beyond those lie a grocery store, a liquor store, and a dollar store. These are all within easy driving distance but too far for any but the most enthusiastic walkers.
Yes. Participants can attend morning yoga or enjoy one of the quiet spaces at Chapel House.

Equipment: Mats, blocks, straps, pillows, blankets provided
Style: Gentle yoga/meditation blend
Chapel House Quiet Space
When: Noon 鈥 4 p.m., Monday 鈥 Friday
What: A place of retreat welcoming all faculty, staff, and visitors from all religious traditions, or none
Spaces Available: Library, music room, and other quiet House spaces for reading and writing
Note: Laptop use and other screens are discouraged in these contemplative spaces.
